How to Share Progress Notes with Connections

Edited

Sharing Progress Notes with Connections allows care providers to keep a participant’s friends or family updated on their wellbeing, activities, or important moments. In StoriiCare, a Connection refers to a family member or friend who has been invited to link to a participant’s profile through the Storii Family App. These invitations are managed through the Care Circle feature.

By default, all Progress Notes are private to staff. Notes are never automatically shared with Connections unless staff members intentionally choose to share them.

This guide explains how to enable sharing and how to share specific notes with Connections.

If you are looking for a way to share an update with all Connections, check out our Community Announcements feature.

Step 1: Ensure “Share with Connections” Is Enabled

Before sharing notes, you must confirm that the sharing option is turned on in Progress Notes Settings.

How to Check

  • Open the Progress Notes feature.

  • Tag a participant in the note. This must be done first in order for the button to appear.

  • If you see the Share button icon (usually a small arrow or share symbol) when composing or viewing a note, sharing is enabled.

If You Do Not See the Share Button

You will need to enable sharing in the settings:

  1. Click the cog/wheel icon in Progress Notes settings.

  2. Toggle on “Share with Connections.”

Once enabled, the share button will appear on the note window.

Step 2: Compose the Progress Note

When you are ready to write a note:

  1. Click Add Note.

  2. Compose your update in the note window.

  3. Tag the relevant participant(s).

Only tagged participants’ Connections will receive shared notes.

Step 3: Share the Note with Connections

After tagging participants:

  1. Click the Share button icon.

  2. Save the note.

The note will now be visible to the participant’s Connection(s) in their Storii Family App.

⚠️ Important:

Sharing a Progress Note does not send a push notification. Connections will see the note in their app, but urgent matters should always be communicated by phone or in person.

Sharing a Note Retroactively (If You Forgot)

If you wrote a Progress Note but forgot to share it, you can still share it afterward:

  1. Open the note.

  2. Click Edit (bottom right corner).

  3. Click the Share button icon.

  4. Click Save.

The note will now be visible to the participant’s Connections.

Best Practices

  • Only share notes that are appropriate for family communication.

  • Always consider confidentiality and wording carefully.

  • For urgent updates, use direct communication — not Progress Notes.

  • Encourage staff to double-check whether a note should be shared before saving.
