Locking Devices for StoriiCare Use Only (Apple iOS)

In care environments, it is often necessary to restrict shared devices to a specific app or website to prevent unintended use. Apple iOS devices include a built-in feature called Guided Access that allows you to lock a device to a single app or web page until a passcode is entered to release it.

This guide explains how to set up Guided Access so that a device can only be used for StoriiCare. The steps below apply to all Apple mobile devices, including iPads, iPhones, and iPod touches.

Screens may vary slightly depending on your device and iOS version, but the steps remain the same.

• Open Settings on your device

• Tap General

• Tap Accessibility (you may need to scroll down to find this)

• Tap Guided Access

• Enable Guided Access by tapping the toggle

• Tap Passcode Settings to set a Guided Access passcode — this is recommended to ensure only authorised staff can exit Guided Access mode

• Enter a passcode that only the relevant staff members will know

Once Guided Access has been set up, it can be activated at any time:

• Open the StoriiCare app, or navigate to StoriiCare in your mobile browser (e.g. Safari or Chrome)

• Press the Home button or Side button three times quickly — the button used will vary depending on your device model

• When prompted, select Start Guided Access

The device will now be locked to StoriiCare until Guided Access is deactivated.

• Press the Home button or Side button three times quickly

• Enter your Guided Access passcode when prompted

• Tap End to exit Guided Access mode
