StoriiCare & Stedi Partnership
Stedi is StoriiCare's preferred clearinghouse partner.
Submit eligibility checks and claims through Stedi’s portal — and directly from StoriiCare
Why use Stedi with StoriiCare?
Stedi serves as the modern, API-first healthcare clearinghouse platform that simplifies eligibility checks, claims submission, and EDI transactions.
Since StoriiCare integrates directly with Stedi’s network, you have two seamless options:
Use Stedi’s user-friendly web portal to submit eligibility checks and claims. (Costs for this are covered for StoriiCare clients)
Submit from right inside StoriiCare and have those requests forwarded via Stedi automatically.
Our account is fully prepaid, so you incur no additional clearinghouse fees for your transactions through StoriiCare + Stedi.
Step-by-Step: Onboarding With Stedi
1. Create your Stedi account
Navigate to Stedi.com and sign up for a free account.
Complete the basic registration by entering your organisation details and choosing an account name.
2. Add us as your trading partner
In your Stedi dashboard, go to Settings → Team / Members (or equivalent).
Add team@storii.com as a member with “Admin” or “Partner” access.
This allows StoriiCare to pay for your account, submit on your behalf and monitor transactions if needed.
We can then configure your trading partner profile for you, streamlining your workflow.
Once we verify the invitation, you’re connected and ready.
3. Complete Your Payer Enrollments
Before you can submit claims or receive remittance advice (ERA files), most payers require an enrollment process.
There are two types of enrollments:
A. 835 ERA Enrollment (Most Important)
This enrollment allows you to receive electronic remittance advice (ERAs) — the payer’s official payment and denial information — directly into StoriiCare.
Why it matters
Without 835 approval, you may still be able to send claims, but you won’t receive ERAs electronically.
You would need to manually upload or reconcile paper remits until 835 enrollment is approved.
B. 837 Claim Enrollment (Varies by Payer)
Many commercial payers do not require enrollment to send claims.
Some Medicaid and Medicare plans do require an 837 enrollment.
Stedi will show you which payers require it and will provide the form or online workflow.
Important: You should complete enrollments before sending claims or eligibility checks
While eligibility checks (270/271) often work immediately, enrollments ensure:
Claims are accepted by the payer.
ERAs return to StoriiCare without interruption.
You avoid denials due to “unauthorized clearinghouse” issues.
How long does it take?
Switching enrollment from another clearinghouse usually takes 1–3 weeks, depending on the payer.
Medicare and Medicaid can take longer.
Commercial payers are usually faster.
What you need to do
Stedi’s platform will guide you payer by payer. You will:
Select 'Enrollments'
Select 'New Enrollment'
Select your business as the 'Provider'
Select the Organization you'd like to enroll with as the 'Payer' - e.g. 'United Healthcare'
Choose the Transaction Type to Enroll for - Stedi will show available enrollment types for that payer. e.g.
835 – Electronic Remittance Advice (most important)
837P – Professional Claims
837I – Institutional Claims
837D – Dental Claims
(Some payers also allow enrollment for 270/271 eligibility)
Click Submit — that’s it.
Stedi automatically sends the enrollment request to the payer.
Most payers require no additional paperwork, unless the payer specifically flags a signature or supplemental form.
4. Start submitting eligibility checks & claims
Via Stedi Portal:
Use the Stedi Portal to submit 270/271 eligibility checks or 837 claims under 'Claims' -> 'Submit a Claim'. (Manually enter data via their 1500 claim for or simply upload an 837 (X12) document).
Track responses (271 eligibility, 277 claim status, 835 ERA) directly in the Stedi portal.
Via StoriiCare (Coming Soon!)
Navigate to the relevant module (Eligibility / Claims).
Pick the client/patient, choose “Submit eligibility check” or “Submit claim”.
StoriiCare handles the submission to Stedi behind the scenes — you get the results back in your StoriiCare portal.
5. Monitor & Support
In the Stedi dashboard you can view transaction logs, retries, errors, and acknowledgments.
In StoriiCare, we will provide an “Integration Status” widget so you can see whether submissions succeed or fail.
If you run into trouble, Stedi has brilliant support and can be contacted via support@stedi.com
StoriiCare facilitates claim submission and ERA retrieval through our integration with Stedi. However, StoriiCare is not responsible for the accuracy of submitted claims, the acceptance or rejection of claims, enrollment approvals, payer processing, or any decisions made by payers.
It is the responsibility of each provider/organization to ensure that all claim information, coding, enrollment details, and payer requirements are correct and compliant. Payers retain full authority over whether claims or enrollments are approved, rejected, or processed.
FAQs
Do I need to pay Stedi separately?
No. Your facility uses our StoriiCare account, which includes Stedi transactions at no additional cost to you.
Can we still track submissions directly with payers?
Yes. Whether submitted via Stedi’s portal or via StoriiCare + Stedi, you maintain full audit trails and can reconcile reports with payer remits.
How quick is setup?
Often you can be ready in under 30 minutes if you add team@storii.com right away and complete the simple profile setup.
What if we already have another clearinghouse?
We recommend switching all processes and payer connections to Stedi. However if preferred, you can still keep your existing clearinghouse for certain workflows or select payers.
What payers do Stedi work with?
Stedi has an extensive payer network - if your current clearinghouse has a direct connection with your payer, it will most likely be on Stedi too. Search their network via this link.
